A CLOSER LOOK AT PRIVACY
Your work stays
with you.
DocuMotion captures webpages and renders videos on your device. Here is what that means in practice.
Last updated: 10 October 2026
Page content is processed locally.
DocuMotion reads a webpage when you choose to capture it and reads a PDF when you import it. Captured content, page titles and source URLs, screenshots, layout information, documents, project settings, local audio, and rendered files are processed locally in your browser. Source URLs identify projects and support recapture. Local layout information can suggest camera movements.
Captured pages, PDF contents, project media, and exported files are not uploaded to a rendering or licensing service. Files you choose to download are saved to your computer through the browser's download system.
DocuMotion does not monitor general browsing history or run a persistent capture script across all websites. It has no advertising or behavioral analytics. Sensitive information that you deliberately include in a capture remains part of your local image, document, and export.
PDF links and source websites.
Importing a PDF link downloads the document from its source. That site receives the request and normal connection information, and may receive existing login cookies under the browser's cookie rules. A locally selected PDF is processed without uploading it.
Webpages can load their own scripts, images, analytics, and online resources while you browse, load, or scroll them. Those websites' activity is governed by their own policies.
Pro licensing uses a connection.
Free capture and rendering do not require a licensing connection. Pro activation sends the entered license key and a randomly generated installation identifier to https://license.documotion.bond. Renewal and device release use installation/device identifiers and an opaque refresh credential. These identifiers support license verification and the active-installation limit; the installation identifier is random, not a hardware fingerprint.
The extension does not save your entered purchase key. It stores signed access and refresh credentials, installation/device identifiers, and licensing status/timing locally to verify and renew access. A valid signed proof permits up to seven days of offline Pro access between successful checks. The proof normally refreshes daily while the browser is online. Its displayed expiry is separate from the one-time purchase. Activation, license checks, and confirmed device release require an internet connection.
The licensing service stores license/device records, status and timing information, and keyed hashes of credentials and identifiers used for verification and abuse prevention. Its host processes connection information, including IP addresses, to serve requests and enforce rate limits. Application rate-limit identifiers are keyed hashes. This is not GPS collection or location tracking.
The service verifies the purchased license benefit with Polar. Polar receives the information needed to verify its license, but not captured content, media, or the DocuMotion installation identifier. Customer information returned by Polar's license API is not stored by the licensing adapter or returned to the extension. Licensing requests use HTTPS and contain no captured content or media.
Polar handles Pro checkout.
Selecting Get Pro on the DocuMotion website opens an embedded checkout hosted by Polar. Polar and its payment providers process the email, billing, and payment details entered there under the policies shown at checkout. The checkout connects to those providers only after you select Get Pro. They may use cookies or browser storage for payment processing and fraud prevention. Card details are entered in Polar’s form, not in the extension. Your license key is available through Polar’s customer purchases page.
Permissions serve the capture workflow.
Active-tab access and scripting let DocuMotion prepare and capture your selected page. Storage saves projects, settings, and licensing state. Downloads saves exports. Alarms schedule license-renewal checks.
On supported Chromium browsers, debugger access supports full-page screenshots and an offscreen document supports local processing. Live Browser requests optional tab-capture permission and records the selected tab as a silent WebM. Firefox uses scrolling capture and a packaged renderer; Live Browser recording is unavailable there.
The production extension has access to its dedicated licensing host. Additional HTTP/HTTPS access is optional and requested for a specific source site when PDF-link import or recapture needs it. A declined request is not broadened.
You control your local data.
Project metadata, source URLs, settings, and license state use local extension storage. Captures, imported media, and rendered files use local IndexedDB. They remain until removed through the extension, browser controls, or uninstalling, subject to browser storage management.
Manage projects and clear local assets in Settings. Clearing assets removes captured images, audio, and rendered files while retaining project metadata and settings. Uninstalling removes extension-local data. Files already downloaded to your computer remain until deleted separately.
Use Release Licence while online to free this installation's Pro slot. Uninstalling or clearing browser data is not a confirmed server-side release. Releasing a license does not erase purchase history or all server licensing records. Licensing records support verification, device management, and security; they are not promised automatic deletion on uninstall.
How we use and share data.
DocuMotion uses data for the capture, editing, export, and optional licensing features described here. Hosting and licensing providers process information needed to provide and secure those services. Data is not sold, used for advertising or behavioral profiling, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending.
DocuMotion's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data use is limited to providing and supporting the extension's stated functionality. Transfers are limited to those permitted by that policy, including necessary service and security processing. User data is not used for personalized advertising. Human access is limited to the exceptions permitted by the policy, such as a user's consent for support, security investigation, or legal requirements.
This website.
The website stores your light/dark theme preference locally. DocuMotion does not add analytics, advertising scripts, tracking cookies, or an email signup database to the site. The optional Polar checkout uses its own payment services as described above. Fonts, images, and the interactive demo are hosted with the site. The demo uses a bundled sample page and cannot read other browser tabs.
The hosting provider may process routine connection information, including IP addresses and request headers, to deliver the website. Browser stores and checkout providers apply their own policies to their services.
